• A vest inspired by the iconic 1996 nuptse kurta. The name refers to the imposing mountain, which is a close neighbor to the summit of Mount Everest. The Nuptse jacket was the first model to use an innovative quilted construction that minimized the down fill from moving down, providing the wearer with lasting warmth. The 1996 Retro Nuptse down vest is the modern incarnation of an icon. Most things have remained the same: the unchanged rectangular silhouette, shiny ripstop fabric: the same exposed zipper and diagonal side pockets, and of course the same down segments of impressive size. The only changes are such improvements as the switch to responsibly sourced 700-fill down and the use of a hydrophobic finish. The hood retracts into the collar, and the entire vest can be folded and packed in the right pocket.
